You are a great lawyer but if no one realizes, you’re doomed. Your prospects and clients need to understand you before they can hire you. Specifically, tell prospective clients what legal problem you solve and how their life will be better after working with you
Crazy thing is, because you are good, you probably don’t like to talk about that. It’s a given for you but not for your clients.
For instance, I’m amazing at uncovering those hidden beliefs that trip you up and showing you your full potential. Being your mirror and sounding board is one of my super talents. I get a ton of satisfaction talking to you, learning about your business and helping map out the route to success. There’s something so yummy about finding just the right resource. Yet, I don’t like to talk about my successes. I like to talk about you.
My guess is that you’re the same way. You’d rather serve than promote. I get that. However, think of it this way. The more your business grows, the greater your reach and the more people you can help. That’s why you went to law school, right? To help people.
Back Alley Kid makes good
You’ll hear me joke that I’m eager for world domination. I am, but my way, of course.
Years ago, when I was teaching middle and high school students to be peer mediators I met a young man destined for juvenile hall. Let’s call him Kyle. People live up or down to our expectations. This poor lamb had no one who saw good in him and acted accordingly. I fought to keep Kyle in my program when the principal scolded me for wasting the money on him.
The principal was right. He was disruptive. Laughed while I lectured and refused to do any of the exercises. Basically, he just filled up the chair. You win some, you lose some, I thought.
Years later, I was asked to speak at a mediators conference that included student mediators from around Boston. I had no clue who he was when this very polite gentleman approached me. He told me that he was a senior in high school on his way to college. He’d turned his life around and wanted to say thanks. That’s when I realized it was Kyle. The program had been a turning point for him and his community who came to see him in an entirely new light. He went from back hall loser to a school leader in a few short years. Kyle attended a community college, transferred to an Ivy and went on to do great things.
You might want to play small in your nurse business but don’t. Someone needs you to reach them, share your message or solution and change the world for the better. When you are motivated by something so yummy, the universe will conspire to help you.
Tell the story of your Nurse Business

No matter how good a writer you are, you need help with this because you will not as generous to yourself as a writer will. Trust and believe that.
I suggest that you hire a writer to create your Business Legend. That’s what I call the story of your business and how it came to be. It’s a written document that captures the who, what and why as well as the vision of where you want your business to go. It also includes your vision for your clients. I know, most biz owners don’t think about that. But that is what sets me, and now you, apart. I have a vision for my clients that huge and glorious. What’s yours?
Not very excited about writing this? I hear ya. The best practice is to hire a professional copywriter to get the job done. That person will hear things that escape you completely. The can pull the emotion out of your story and clarify your ‘big WHY’ your business exists. Not only will you get a document you can share with clients and use to train your teammates, you’ll see a new you. The superhero- you.
